Prevention of Yeast Infection. Vaginal yeast infection is a common fungal infection of the genitalia that causes inflammation, itching, irritation and vaginal discharge. It is most common in women but may also be experienced by men.Prevention-of-Yeast-Infection

Yeast infection maybe due to an imbalance in your body system leading to the overgrowth of yeast. The factors that cause yeast infections include antibiotics which lower the amount of Lactobacillus or the good bacteria in the vagina, pregnancy, uncontrolled diabetes, weak immune system, poor eating habits or over consumption of sugary foods, hormonal imbalance near the menstrual cycle, stress and lack of sleep.

Prevention of Yeast Infection

Practice good hygiene.  Keep your vagina clean. Clean the folds of your vagina when taking a bath. Yeast thrives in moist areas like the folds of your vagina. It therefore utmost to keep the entire area dry. You may use blow dryer on a low and cool setting just to rid of excess moisture.

Right Clothes. Keep away from nylon and synthetic fabrics. It encourages growth of yeast because it holds moisture near your skin. Use cotton and silk undergarments that absorbs moisture and keep you dry. When exercising, change your sweaty clothes immediately. Prevent dampness by changing your undergarments as often as possible. Avoid using pantyhose, tights or leggings to prevent heat and moisture buildup. Use cotton panties if you do need to wear them and be sure that the crotch area is cotton. Wear loose night gowns or pajamas and you may not wear underwear in bed to keep your genital area dry.

Avoid perfumes and scented sanitary napkins. Perfumes can irritate the area inside your vagina and increase the risk of yeast infection.  Dyes in sanitary napkins, tampons and colored toilet paper can also irritate the sensitive area inside the vagina.

Prevention-of-Yeast-InfectionDouche. Though douche destroys harmful bacteria, it also destroys the good bacteria that helps keep yeast under control. It washes away the natural protective lining of the vagina making you more vulnerable to yeast infection.

Healthy immune system helps keep yeast under control. Keep a regular sleeping schedule. Avoid exercise, drinking coffee and eating heavy meals three hours before sleeping. Manage blood sugar levels to prevent yeast infection.

Diet. Avoid too much sugar in your diet. It can promote the growth of yeast. Avoid foods containing simple sugars which includes many fruits, reduce or eliminate consumption of white flour or rice and alcoholic drinks.

Probiotics. Good bacteria are the bacteria that normally live in our digestive tract, on our skin and other parts of the body and help with digestion and other body functions. Probiotics is said to help restore the normal bacterial balance in the body and prevent yeast infections. The good sources of probiotics include organic yogurt with live bacterial cultures, and supplements that contain lactobacillus and/or acidophilus.

Prevention of Yeast Infection. Although vaginal yeast infections are rarely serious, it is best to prevent it from occurring in the firsthand.
