There are different sources of Vitamin D. Vitamin D helps absorb calcium which your bones need. Lacking the right amount of Vitamin D will have effects to your body which will be bad for your health. Being deficit in Vitamin D mostly causes bone abnormalities like rickets or osteomalacia.
