Hemp seed oil (also the same as hemp oil) are from the cannabis plant family. The hemp seeds are cold-pressed to keep the oil retain its nutritional benefits. Although it is of the same plant with marijuana, hemp seed oil does not get you high. This type of hemp is industrialized and is cultivated specifically for the purpose of producing hemp products. Hemp seed oil products are similar to other nutritional seed oils such as flax seeds and chia seeds which are rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, and essential fatty acids.
Hemp seeds are a superfood! Hemp seeds contain about double the protein of flax seeds, and about 50% more protein than almonds. They also contain Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. They taste good, similar to sunflower seeds, and can be eaten solo or added to bars, smoothies, and so many other recipes.
Hemp plant can be of many uses and not just for the health. It can be for production of paper, livestock bedding, even personal care products, and can also be used as a biofuel, like biodiesel, to fuel a car engine!
