The overconsumption of sugar is the cause for around 40 percent of US healthcare expenditures as stated by a 2013 study by the Credit Suisse Research Institute.

In the US, the damaging effects of sugar are so high that more than a trillion dollars are spent on it annually while in the UK a major share of health care costs are spent on oral diseases mainly induced by sugar. When we intake junk food, it is the mitochondrial dysfunction which promotes cancer with sugar having a major role to play in the same. Excessive sugar helps generate a lot of free radicals, which cause nuclear DNA and mitochondrial damage.

  • Reduce the amount of sugar you add to food and drinks.
  • Add flavor to your meal with the help of a variety of spices and not sugar.
