What is a Cloudy Urine?

Your pee or urine looks cloudy instead of the usual clear urine. Seeing your urine like this can be worrisome especially if you are experiencing/seeing it for the first time. So, what causes cloudy urine? Was it something you drank or ate? Unfortunately, no. Urine like that is a signal that there is something wrong inside your body. It can be due to an infection or other issues in the urinary tract.

What Causes a Cloudy Urine?

There are various reasons why your pee is not clear. Here are some causes:

1. You are Dehydrated

Have you been drinking enough water lately? If not, cloudy urine (and sometimes dark) might be due to dehydration. Children and senior citizens are more likely to be easily dehydrated compared to regular adults.

Checking whether your pee is cloudy or milky is one way to determine you have UTI. The cloudiness of your pee may come from the discharge of pus or blood into the urinary tract, or it may be while blood cells coming from fighting the bad bacteria in your body.

Other common symptoms from having UTI includes:

• more frequently needing to pee
• burning pain while urinating
• pain in the pelvis, lower abdomen, or lower back
